The promotion took effect June 26, as Oswalt takes over the position vacated by former CEO Bill Wells, who served for nine years.

Oswalt has worked at Alabama ONE since 2012 and has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions as well as professional experience as a CPA and attorney.

Oswalt has also led efforts to acquire five facilities over the past four years while expanding Alabama ONE’s market presence to 27 locations across the state.

“On behalf of the Alabama ONE Credit Union Board of Directors, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Whitney Oswalt as CEO of Alabama ONE, effective immediately,” said Loo Whitfield, Alabama ONE Board Chair. “Whitney has been a strong member of our leadership team and under his leadership, first as Chief Financial Officer and then as Chief Strategy Officer, our credit union has continued to grow, evolve and remain financially sound. We look forward to the future of Alabama ONE with Whitney as our CEO.”

Oswalt said he was honored and grateful for the opportunity before mentioning Alabama ONE’s talented and dedicated team that has been instrumental in the company’s growth over the past nine years.

“I want to thank Bill for his strong and critical leadership over the past nine years in laying a strong foundation for Alabama ONE,” he said. “Our mission will not change as we continue to focus on our growth in rural communities across Alabama. I look forward to working with our team and seeing what opportunities await Alabama ONE in the near future.”
