A 13-year-old boy was tragically killed when he was hit by a car in the Hudson Valley.

There are no initial costs for the driver.

13-year-old hit by car in Rockland County, New York

On Monday at around 2:44 p.m., Haverstraw Police were notified that a young boy on a bicycle had been hit by a car.

The child was hit at the intersection of High Mountain Road and Overlook Road in the village of Pomona, New York.

Arriving officers found the vehicle in front of 103 Overlook Road. The driver remained on scene and called emergency services, police said.

The child was found under the vehicle.

The unnamed 13-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

The City of Haverstraw Criminal Investigation Department was assisted by the City of Ramapo Accident Reconstruction Team and the Rockland County Sheriff’s Department BCI.

Police believe the person will likely not face charges because surveillance footage from the area showed he was not driving recklessly.

“Based on witness statements regarding the accident and surveillance video obtained at the scene, it appears that this was a tragic accident and no charges have been filed against the driver at this time,” Haverstraw police said in a press release.
