NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — It must be a small relief for Baltimore Orioles fans that top talents Coby Mayo and Jackson Holliday returned to play this week.

Coby Mayo

Mayo, who hit 2 for 4, hit his 16th home run of the season and scored two runs, is back from a broken rib, while Holliday is still recovering from inflammation in his right elbow and will play only as a designated hitter for now.

Still, it’s a pleasing sight to have two of the three most promising talents in the Orioles organization.

“To be honest, I was a little nervous at first,” Mayo said. “I didn’t know what to expect at first. Coming back was great and felt great.”

Jackson Holiday

Holliday, who hit a double in four at-bats as the DH in the Tides’ loss to Charlotte on Wednesday, is excited to be back at full strength.

“Obviously you want to help the team win as often as possible,” Holliday said. “The goal is to be in Memphis by the end of the week, but if not, I’ll be there after the All-Star break.”
