Neopets Card Game is officially out. If you’re looking to buy some booster packs, here’s how to play Neopets Battledome to get you started.

When setting up, there are two separate decks. One deck contains only your pets, which are your attackers. The other deck contains all of your other cards designed to strengthen your pet. So when choosing cards, choose cards that will help you find useful cards that support your pets. For example, if your pet has high defense, you may want to put cards in your deck that focus on healing and blocking damage to play to its strengths.

The Neopets Battledome match is a best-of-three match. You both have a pet that you can choose from your pet deck. Once a pet’s health drops to zero, the entire board is wiped and you start your second round with a new pet. Whoever wins twice is the overall winner!

As you can see in the image above from Tricky Gym, each pet has three stats: Attack, Defense, and Agility. The Attack stat tells you how many dice you need to roll, Defense tells you how many dice you need to roll to defend against incoming attacks, and Agility tells you how many rerolls you can make after both players roll. You attack once per turn.

A 4, 5 and 6 are successful attacks. You also need a 4, 5 or 6 for defense. The number of dice that go through is how much damage you do. For example, if you roll two 5s and none of them are defended, you do 2 damage.

You draw one card per turn. These cards can be codestones, equipment, potions, and more. You can attach one codestone per turn. Placing a codestone under your pet will level it up. You can have up to three equipments on your pet, but they all have a certain level that your pet must be before they can be attached. Equipments improve your pet’s stats. Cards like potions and more allow you to draw cards, heal your pet, and perform other useful actions. You can play one card (except your codestone) per turn, so choose wisely.
