Alabama Softball signed its second infielder from the transfer portal this week.

Former Louisiana third baseman Brooke Ellestad announced her commitment to the Crimson Tide on social media Thursday morning.

The infielder started 61 of 64 games for the Ragin’ Cajuns last season, posting a .359 batting average with nine home runs and 54 RBIs and a .564 slugging percentage. She led the team in RBIs and tied for the team’s highest home run total. (All of these stats would have led Alabama in 2024.)

Originally from Kimberly, Wisconsin, Ellestad spent her first two college seasons at St. Thomas in Minnesota before transferring to Louisiana last season. She has one year of eligibility remaining at Alabama.

At Louisiana, she was named to the NFCA All-Central Region Third Team and the All-Sun Belt First Team in 2024. The Ragin’ Cajuns were a No. 13 seed in the NCAA Tournament and beat Oklahoma in a non-conference game last season.

Ellestad is the Crimson Tide’s fifth signing, joining Northern Iowa all-around talent Alexis Pupillo, pitcher Catelyn Riley, pitcher Emily Winstead and infielder Salen Hawkins. The only player to move on this offseason was infielder Kenleigh Cahalan.

Alabama needed to fill at least two starting infield spots with third baseman Bailey Dowling graduating and Cahalan transferring to Florida. Ellestad will likely slide into third base.
