Storylines we’re watching ahead of SEC Media Days: Just one minute

Welcome to BamaCentral’s “Just a Minute,” a video series featuring BamaCentral’s Alabama sportswriters. Several times a week, the writers come together to offer their opinion on a topic related to the Crimson Tide or the landscape of college sports.

Check out the video above as BamaCentral editors Blake Byler and Katie Windham discuss some of the key storylines leading up to SEC Media Days next week.

Various conferences have been holding their respective media days this week, and the 2024 SEC Media Days begin on Monday with LSU, Ole Miss, South Carolina and Vanderbilt, meaning college football season is just around the corner. It will be the first time Oklahoma and Texas have been in the mix, with the Sooners appearing on Tuesday and Texas on Wednesday.

For years, SEC Media Days were held near the Alabama campus in Hoover, but in recent years the venue has been changed. After Texas and Oklahoma, this year’s edition will now take place in Dallas.

Alabama will speak at Kalen DeBoer’s first SEC Media Days appearance on Wednesday, and the Crimson Tide’s player representatives are quarterback Jalen Milroe, offensive lineman Tyler Booker and defensive back Malachi Moore.

SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey opens the event each year on Monday with his statement on what’s happening in the SEC and college sports. As one of the most respected voices in college sports, Sankey’s message contains important insights.

BamaCentral will be reporting from Dallas all next week.
