An annual car show this weekend will raise funds for Franklin Regional student scholarships in memory of 2021 Panther graduate Damian Bearley, who was killed in a 2021 car accident in Derry Township.

The fourth annual “Long Live Damian Bearley” car show will be held Saturday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Cook Township Community Center, 1714 Route 711 in Stahlstown.

Vehicles can participate for a $10 fee, which goes to the Long Live Damian Bearley Foundation. Bearley’s mother, Jackie, said she plans to use the proceeds to fund scholarships for FR students.

“The support we received from the FR community after this tragedy was overwhelming,” she said. “So now I want to give something back to this community.”

Bearley, a Murrysville resident, was driving south on Route 982 in mid-July 2021 when investigators said he struck a deer, crossed into the oncoming lane and crashed into a tree and a utility pole. He was a car enthusiast and enjoyed going to cruises, shows and meets.

In the afternoon there will be food trucks, a DJ, a low car limbo event, a basket raffle, 50/50 and a burn-out area.
